Key Partner: Synergy Multi-Academy Trust
We partnered with Synergy Multi-Academy Trust, which encompasses 16 schools. After initially contacting us for a site inspection and remedial work at one of their schools, the Trust chose Impact Services to conduct an additional nine site inspections.
We are incredibly proud to support the Trust and take pride in the work carried out to ensure the safety of staff and pupils across a total of ten schools. If you would like to find out more about the works completed, please contact us on 01603 304306.

Why are site inspections needed?
During the Solar PV ‘gold rush’, many schools benefitted from free solar panels funded by Power Purchase Agreements and Investors.
As East Anglia’s leading solar PV installer, we have since been asked to undertake inspections of schools that benefited from these schemes.
We have uncovered dangerous and rushed electrical works which pose a real risk to the children and staff. One inspection even forced the school to close their playgrounds until necessary remedial works were carried out.
Below are the four most common faults we find at Schools:
1. Incorrect and insufficient ballast.
This image illustrates severely perished low-density blocks, which have left the solar array exposed to being blown off the roof. Additionally, there is insufficient ballast – there should have been double the blocks on this site. This is extremely dangerous and must be rectified as soon as possible.
2. Dangerous live DC cables.
This image shows live DC cables exposed on the roof of one school. These cables should have been raised off the ground, fixed to an aluminum tray, and secured with UV-Resistant Cable Fixings to stop movement and perishing.
3. Perished cable protection.
Using External Weather Shield Steel Wired Armoured Cable is critical as the incorrect cable will perish and expose live wires, as you can see here. This is also extremely dangerous.
4. Damaged panels.
While some level of degradation is common with old systems, many installers failed to inform schools about the maintenance required to keep their panels generating electricity. This image shows a site which is underperforming by at least 50% generation.
