Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery continuously takes stale, polluted and warm air from rooms such as bathrooms and kitchens, and then redistributes the filtered, clean air into the working or living area rooms.
Inside the ventilator, there is a central heat exchanger in which the polluted air is taken through and the heat energy is recovered. This heat energy is then transferred to the new, clean air. This transfer process retains around 95% of the heat generated within your home.
Heat Recovery Ventilation is a system that involves ducting that is connected to each room, and a Heat Recovery unit.
In the loft or in a plant room there will be an air-handling unit, which will be attached to the dual pair-ducting that travels to every room in which filtered air is required.
One line of the dual pair-ducting is used to remove the polluted air and the second line of ducting replaces it with filtered air.
The heat exchanger is located inside the air handling unit. The heat recovery process begins when the heated, warm air exits through the exchanger, and the heat is absorbed. The colder, fresh air from the outside is then drawn in, and the heat that was extracted earlier is used to heat this up. This new, warm and fresh air is filtered into the room.
This process maintains up to 90% of the heat in the room.
